A couple of out buildings on a farm in rural Crooks, South Dakota. No the town's name does not apply to the people that live there either! lol Thank goodness since I have a lot of relatives living there! LOL I thought the red buildings really stood in contrast to the white of the snow, and made a nice combination. You also can see another windmill in disrepair as so many are nowdays since few are used anymore. Electric pumps have now replaced wind power on the majority of farms. Thanks for viewing and leaving a comment if you wish! :)

Great shot Dan. I think the red houses gives a great contrast against the white snow. Great work.

Glad you listened to that little voice in your head Dan because it was right. The dark red really does stand out against the whiteness of the snow. The windmill just adds to this beautiful rural scene too. Now this would make a nice Christmas card. Looks really good and makes a delightful winter post. Thanks Dan.

Really nice, Dan. I love the red barn and small building against the white snow. I like them even when there isn't any snow, but they really do stand out, don't they? There had to be sufficient wind to power those windmills.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

It is a lovely shot of this little town (part of) and the red looks great on the white snow. I wonder, if there will be times, when the wind energy will be used again ...

Exceptional clarity, Dan. One of the things I love about trees in the winter is being able to view the branches and their various twists and turns..
ya can't miss 'em in this view. Of course, I like barns, and esp ones that aren't falling down around their knees, even if the owners did abandon the available wind power. Thanks for sharing this one Sheriff, and just make sure your relatives in town behave themselves and don't actually make a contribution to the name..what a strange one it is..lol !!!!!

Very good Dan. It came up in the voting booth and I gave it a 10+. At first I thought it was from my area here in CO as there is a red barn very similiar to this one a couple of miles away from me. Thanks for sharing it.

I really like this image. You guys have all the snow....we had our first snow since early november the friday after christmas, only about 2 inches and then it warmed up and melted again. The light and dark are such contrasts in this it really evokes a very moody feeling. Old man winter is showing his sentiments I guess. Thanks for taking it and sharing it. Jodie
