With the incredibly cold weather we have been experiencing in the Dakotas lately, there have also been some very nice sunsets. Many times as the sun gets low in the sky "sun dogs" will form among other things resulting from sunlight hitting ice crystals in the air. While there is no real sundog in this one, I thought it looked real nice and wanted to share it here. This is as I saw it with the exception of power lines removed & run through a noise filter. Hope you enjoy this! Thanks for all your views and comments!

Yes, I enjoy it very much. The sky is still blue on the top, but a great sunset is also here. The trees make a beautiful foreground. Great job. And now I am curious seeing such a sundog.

This is one of the clearest shots you've ever taken, that I've seen, Dan. It's breathtakingly beautiful and the silhouettes are part of and not a distraction to the glowing sunset that you've given us. It looks as though they are enjoying the scene as much as we are as they bear silent witness to the sun kissing the earth goodnight. It's certainly on my hard drive and in my mind. Excellent, my friend..left me with a catch in my throat.

...and PS: Happy One-Year Anniversary !!!

This is quite sumptuous, Dan. It looks like that big old sun is setting down in the field behind the trees. Really pretty with those full, large trees cut in black against the sky! It's actually kind of mysterious looking. Great job with the cloning and noise control!

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

I do love them too, the images of bare branches against sut setting sky ...
And the colours of the sky IS so beautiful here !
However I am ignorant completely about cloning and noise control I can appreciate this image A LOT, dear Dan. LOL [laughing at my eternal being a beginner]

Very nicely framed, and I like the starkness of the trees against the fiery sunset. Good job!

This is just a lovely capture Dan. The shadows of the tall grasses between the trees is quite a sight here against the setting sun. Looks like a winner to me and I have really enjoyed viewing this. Was this taken from your yard?.

You bagged this one. Silouettes need to be in sharp focus even if they are just branches. You accomplished that perfectly. This is a keeper.
