I don't recognize this kind of fly at all. It was around my kids sandbox when he played, and I just happened to have my camera around... ^_^

I haven't played in a sandbox for quite a while, but I'm sure when I did I got bit by one of these..it looks like a nasty, but you certainly got a good shot of him !! :)

I think this might be an asilid fly. They catch and eat other insects, sometimes in flight, much like dragonflies do. Nice shot.

Yeah, that's the one. I've seen him too. In the dark mysterious woods when I was trying to find the two deers of our little island (as they can't run quite far the island being so tiny). It was waiting on a branch and sometimes took a short flight around trying to catch a passing by insect. Just like dragonflies. Nice shot btw. The backgroung matches nicely with the fly. It's been quite a while as I've been veeeery busy with school and stuff. But I try to get back to the routine soon. And maybe even upload something.
