I don't know the real name of these guys but they call them Snake Birds because when they swim their body is under water with their head and neck sticking out and it looks like a snake. Their feathers don't have oil so they have to hang their wings out to dry before they can fly again. I guess I caught this guy "doing his laundry". At least he doesn't need clothes pins!

Nice capture! The clarity of the bird is excellent. thanks for the background too. I saw a few of these birds when I was in SC in November, I had never seen one before. I took pictures, but none came out like this!

Lisa, the view of the bird's laundry that he's putting out there for all to view is just great and you got a very clear shot of the textures and colors.
