Sadly I don't know the name of this abbey or even what town it was in. It was a quick stop we made on a day trip tour I took from Edinburgh, Scotland to the Northumberland area in England. In Photoshop I tried out the "flashlight" effect on this after changing it to B&W then touched it up with the burn and dodge tools.

Good choice to give it the squarer aspect, suits the geometry of the ruin perfectly. You've given the ruin a sense of remaining power and dignity, as such ruins often have but often NOT in photos of them. Great photography Lisa.

It's interesting to see the modern building behind this one. Seems like the two shouldn't mix, but in some strange way they do.

Love your post work on this Lisa..excellent touch.

The post work is excellent, enhancing and not destroying. I love the comment about the modern building, I think it's Georgian, so only 200 years old, and modern compared to the abbey's 900. Sorry off topic. The picture is wonderful!

That's soooo eerie - I'd never guess you were a specialist in all things haunted ;-) Great perspective on this, it's very dynamic. And I'm intrigued by the flashlight effect.. is it Photoshop? I want to know more!

WOW !!! You did here a fantastic rework Lisa. The B&W tranformation add the eerie atmosphere of this abbey. Is it possible to see the original ? I think it's always interesting to see because we can more appreciate the work you did.
Very well done my friend.

How beautiful this is!! I literally gasped for breath when I saw this on the main page...what a fantastic shot. You did great with the 'touch ups'..and enhanced the photo. I don't care for the gravestones on here, but the rest is great. Thank you ever so much. Verena
