on my first snorkling underwater photography experience I went to the Great Barrier Reef off Lowe is near Port Douglas. This amazing coral is huge. What I like about this image is that if you look closely you will see that the coral is made up of long cylinders that form the overall shape. I am not sure what the name of this one is but to me it looks like noodles.. enjoy all my underwater shots, which are from the sea not an aquarium.

How gorgeous! I wonder if this is the one called Brain coral.
How big would you say this was. It's so interesting to see. I can only imagine how yoiu enjoyed all this. Verena

These stalks of coral continue to wash ashore millions of years later on the shores of Lake Michigan...I have many in my backyard that I have picked up while walking the beach...This is an amazing photo and shows the stalk so clearly...Beautiful!
