I love pastels....oil pastels is ok, but I LOVE regular pastels because that is my forte'. As an artist, pastels are the best medium to work with, however with computers...there is so much more that you can do.

Simple, but attractive image. I would like to see a bit more depth of field to sharpen all the oil sticks.

It's good to experiment, especially with a new camera - I remember doing the same myself and photographing anything that moved or stood still! lol!. I would try posting images a little larger, ie about 1600x1200 or widescreen 1680x1050 so the images can be viewed on the desktop and are still not big enough for reproducing professionally :) I quite like the way you have focused on the crayon in the foreground - using a large aperture you have created blur in the background which is a nice effect! Enjoy your camera.
