Juneau, Alaska, USA. In the temperate rainforest, with its wet conditions, produces lush undergrowth. In this intermittent stream bed, among the decaying remnants of fallen trees, moss grows in abundance, along with ferns and young devil's club. The later will grow to be over five feet tall, and has medicinal value, being used in medicines by the First People of Alaska. The plant, in spite of its size, is fragile and grows slowly. Be healthy and enjoy!

I wss just ready to shut down the computer and go for a walk when your posts showed up Thad. Glad I took a moment to look at this great shot. Maybe it will help me to see more beauty when I am walking. I like the diagonal line created by the tree.

The devil's club is an unknown plant at the other side of the big pond, Thad, so I had to visit Wikipedia to learn more about it. The to you narrative additive information was very helpful to place you image in the proper 'perspective'. Very interesting.

Thanks for this fine post.

Regards, Cornelius.

Hey Thad. I think you have found a section of the Alaskan Pipeline. I heard it was in bad shape, but I didn't realize that had gotten to look like a tree limb. LOL. Beautiful nature shot, Thad.

I like Jimbob's remark. But jokes aside, a nice shot of the grounds Thad.

A fine foray into forest floor decor, Thad. Nice lighting and colours in the photo. A nicely composed scene with great textures in that mossy carpet. The seating arrangements don't look too comfortable; that huge sectional must be for guests, don't want them too cozy.

They also have thorns and hurt when you get one slapped in your face. We used to have Devils Club fights when I was young. I never won:( Really nice and green forest floor! The rainforest are really a must see up there.
