Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska, USA. Tick asked what the larger scene looked like with the glacier calving. With the face of the glacier being 250 feet high, the ice is breaking off nearly halfway up and creating a huge splash. What looks like little snow particles are sizable chucks of ice, though nothing of iceberg scale. Enjoy!

You did an amazing job of the capture Thad not to mention getting more than one shot in what I would think a very short time.

I now know what it would look like as a desktop Thad. It looks great. I really like the color of the glacier and the water. It is very unusual. You can't help but think of the Titanic when you see this.

I was just thinking how funny this ice would look in a glass of orange crush.

I've spent the last 10 minutes comparing the three calving shots. I have concluded that I like them all just about the same but for different reasons. The landscape mode shot works better on my desktop, but the portrait mode really gets us close enough to feel the splash. I think the colors on this one are more pronounced because of the added reflection. Hell, they're all fascinating and beautiful. Why do I think the guy standing next to you heard a rapid succession of click click click click?

Thad, it's not easy to make a good and attractive photograph of this rather monochrome colored subject. To me hoever, you have succeeded in doing this because you've brought a kind of tension and dramatic nature into this picture. Done very well, my friend.

Regards, Cornelius.

I like the way the sky is reflected not only in the water, but on the ice as well. It seems to be a world of wondrous turquoise.

Some people have Gurus, I have my camera. Through the cam lenses I have learnt to deeply perceive life, not only to see, but to look at all expressions of nature, becoming able to read the poetry of the flowers, receiving the embrace of the trees and flying above the clouds without wings! - Susie Sun

The color tone is amazing. For some reason, it doesn't looks as cold as it might if it were just white. Great shot again, Thad.
