Newport, Rhode Island, USA. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Newport was THE summer place for the wealthiest Americans. They built 'summer cottages', that while mansions, paled in size to the winter homes. The summer was filled with extravagant glass and dinner parties. Rosecliff was one such mansion. Designed by Stanford White, one of the most notable architects of the day, it cost $2.5 million to build. With 65,000 square feet of floor space, there should be plenty of room for all of us. The grand ballroom can seat 350 for dinner. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosecliff) Today, it can be toured, and rented for weddings, dinners, etc. Scenes of the movies The Great Gatsby, Amistad, True Lies and 27 Dresses were filmed here. Enjoy!
