New Paltz, New York, USA. The Abraham Hasbrouck House was bult in three stages starting in 1721. Orininally believed to have been built by Abraham, one of the founders of New Paltz, archeological studies have shown that it was built by his son, Daniel. After twelve years of extensive restoration, it has been reopened to the public. I am a direct descendant of Abraham. He was a French Huguenot, who moved to Mannheim, Germany with his parents, then, when he was an adult, to New Paltz.

A very interesting narrative completes this very fine post Thad. A lot of French Huguenots have moved to Belgium and Holland as well. The family name 'Haasbroek' is rather common in my country. The pronouncation of 'Haasbroek' is nearly the same as your family name.

Regards, Cornelius.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Daniel did some mighty fine work in the construction of the family homestead. It might be time someone in the family replaced that rain barrel, though. Good details, clarity and colours in the photo, Thad. A great job showing your roots.
