Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. Mr. Jefferson had the south side of the mountain terraced for vegetable gardens and fruit plants and trees. The vegetable garden, 1000 feet long, divided into 24 sections, with vegetables grouped by which part of the plant was harvested. The garden pavilion was designed by Jefferson, a place to read, write, and admire the garden and orchards. Montalto is seen in the background.

All the structure in this place has been studiedly built!..

A huge garden, which would probably have been looked after by workers!...

Thad, what did Mr. Jefferson with all these 'vitamins' in a time that freezers were not available yet?
Think not that he was on a market to sell them, lol.

Beautiful colours in this well captured shot Thad. A well arranged and well maintained veg garden.

That little garden structure is just big enough for one...and since I am one, how much is the monthly rent? I am particularly fond of the view, so it's in the perfect place for me to spend my retirement days. (Unless I can find something similar in the Rockies! LOL.) Beautiful shot, Thad.

A beautiful shot - I'm familiar with these gardens from the TV show "A Taste of History" - they did two episodes on Jefferson and his gardens and kitchen. This shot is particularly wonderful because of the fall colors and the angle.

This would make a garden of my dreams - being a vegetarian I would be the healthiest one to die on earth ever. :)
Thanks for this beauty - seriously.

So what did you manage to raid out of the garden before they chased you off? Enough for a stew?
Good composition of the scene and a nice capture of the gardens, Thad.
