Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. Below the large vegetable garden, along with the vineyards and fruit orchards, were berry squares, each one in which a berry bush / tree was planted. To keep animals at bay, a paling fence was built. In its original state, the fence was a quarter-mile long, surrounding much a larger number of squares. Being there in early November, the berries were already picked.

The 4 footed creatures may be kept out but I would imagine the birds would have a field day in there - another wonderful addition to your series Thad.

Love the way in which you composed this shot, Thad!!!! When I first saw it, I immediately wanted to walk into the garden. I do have to agree that the birds were most likely enjoying the berry buffet.

When the berries are away, the animals will play, Thad.
The open gate welcomes us to this excellent photo.

A nice shot with good depth Thad. One can keep animals away but not the birds with such fence.

Probably keep people at bay mostly because I hardly think it would deter the animals. Deer could easily clear that fence and the birds would use it for a resting place while they have lunch. I was just being funny with my comments. Good rural photo Thad.

I hear there's a young Mr. Sawyer looking for gainful employment as a fence painter. He should forward his resume here.
A good perspective in the photo, Thad.
