Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. At Monticello, there are no photos allowed inside the house, except for the Dome Room (where there is no furniture). Looking out the round windows of the Dome Room, the views, both near and far, have a different perspective. Seen here, at the end of the terrace, is the South Pavilion, one of two small buildings that were built prior to the redesign and rebuilding of Monticello. (Mr. Jefferson originally had built a house with a two story columned portico. With the redesign, the current house was built.) During the house reconstruction, Jefferson and his wife lived in this pavilion. (The chimney seen emerging from the terrace is from one of the work rooms below the terrace, that opens to the downhill side. The people seen to the right are standing near Mulberry Row, learning about slavery on the plantation.

That's a very creative photograph, Thad. I like the view of the trees with the fall colors.

I think you captured a view of the modern world's fascination with cell phones within this shot of Monticello. I may be wrong, but it looks like there is a group of people on tour, listening to their tour guide and seeing and hearing about the historical importance of all that is around them.

Then there is that one individual, just off center to the left, chatting away on his cell phone. It makes me wonder why he is there anyway if not to be attentive to the history lesson going on.

I agree with Raj as this would be a good entry for the current contest. Love the fall tones in this image as well Thad.

I was afraid you were being held prisoner Thad.
Perhaps it will make it into the contest.
Good shot through the window.

Very well done. The offset of your shot really creates some extra depth. The distortion in the glass also gives it sense of realism - no photoshop here. :)
