San Diego Safari Park, Escondido, California, USA. I cannot recall which variety of heron this is, but the color variations were quite nice.

A very unusual kind of heron Thad. No long legs, long neck etc. Nice capture.

I agree with Tom that this resembles more a condor than a heron - even a green heron, which has shorter legs, has a much longer more pointed beak. Beautiful details in the feathers Thad.

Certainly an unusual bird Thad, looking at it's bill and plumage I see similarities to the Pigeon family. Clear details and a blurred background make for a good portrait.
