It is a nice post as far as it goes...but I agree with
/\...there is not much contrast here to draw the eye or hold the interest. The composition and focusa are fine, but it needs a bit of defintion to really hold the eye.

Well...I never think to take or produce anything in black and white, and yet when I see bw shots by others I always like them a lot! Here we have a (now nearly silhouetted) palm, a clump of brush in (surely) shallow water, a very interesting boat, and some subtle reflections. I am of the mind that the reflections in this bw pic are as good as they are going to get. My only nit-pick is that the boat is too small, but I have seen the problem when I decided the brush is in shallow water. I bet the boat can't come any closer. And you want the palm tree for the composition help it renders. Soooo, next time, put someone standing on your shoulders to take the pic in order to get the boat closer to the palm branches so you can crop to get the boat bigger! Simple. :) This is a nice, quiet pic...serene...and I like it!

Love the serene atmosphere of your image... the palm tree, the water, and the boat all seem to float on the edge between reality and dream... Only suggestion, I would crop some off the right side, which has no focal point... Otherwise, good B&W!

Very beautiful and I'd like to see it in color as well. I agree with the right side being cropped. It draws the eye away from the palm and the boat.
