Mary, I dont do macro shots but I think what you do is set a super fast shutter speed first then set the aperture if shooting manual or just use to shutter priority go fast and let the camera do the aperture for you, if you use a point and shoot set it to sport. You got a good focus on the butterflies head and body so you were a bit unlucky with the wings but it`s got good colour and it`s better than I could do.

Mary, most of the butterfly images at Caedes are taken in a butterfly garden as it's extremely hard to make a good capture in the 'open air'. I've tried it many times but quited to prevent that I became frustrated. Compared with my 'results', think you've done a very good job! Regards, cornelius
Very hard critters to get, you have done a great job tbh..... ive tried to do really fast shutter speeds before but i find the pictures come out really dark.... Maybe its just me !
The butterfly is good and what's really attracting me, as it did the butterfly, is that perfectly gorgeous bit of flower...that's quite the snazzy color :)

I really like this photo. I know for a fact how hard butterflies are to capture and think you did a wonderful job. The wings are a little blurry but IMHO, it shows movement and they don't seem to land for very long. At least they don't for me. Great colours.
Swallowtails are some of my fav butterflies. They do get those wings moving quickly, though! You can see that in the shot, which is nice. Love the clarity and colors on the flowers as well.
