Saw this barn in Vermont. First thing I thought when I saw it was, my childhood. I had an uncle up in Maine that use to have a barn that looked very much like this one. I hope you all enjoy my pictures. take care
First I want to thank you for sneaking in a vertical size that fits well on my desktop. Secondly, I have to congratulate you for finding a barn that's still standing and in such great shape for an oldster around here. They are few and far between, sadly, so I too try to find them and shoot them when I can, but this one speaks with a lot of the character that those old barns have, and I miss them too.
Interesting subject but the composition could be better. To be honest it just looks to me like you weren't able to find a posision where you could fit the whole subject into the frame, so you have just tried to squeeze in as much as you could (maybe this is actually the case, I don't know). I think the rule of thirds might have helped in this case.
While I don't know what the surrounding area looks like .. but I DO see snow .. and I feel another composition could be found to show the quaintness of the structure in its locale ... this shot strikes me as being rushed, a documentary shot, and not an art shot
but ...
it's not my childhood I'm trying to re-capture and so I think this particular angle means something to you .. perhaps you have always remembered THAT barn in THIS way ... so I will allow you your dreams
Putting your pictures in my favorites is the highest honor I can give you. If I do not get to your pictures as soon as you post them, I apologize. I try. Also if I do not respond for awhile it doesn't mean I'm ignoring you, it just means I'm really tied up with life.
I really enjoy close-ups of old Vermont barns and this is a t'riffic shot, only a little off-focus in full size. But what the ----, I still really like it.
