Abu Simbel built by Ramasses II to celebrate his alleged victory at the battle of Kadesh. He ruled from 1279-1213 BC, it's said that he had over 100 hundred children, that's a lot of birthdays to remember. The temple was moved in the 1960's to prevent rising water from the great dam covering it up. Every stone block was cut using hand saws as mechanical saws would not cut accurately enough and some of the work spaces were a bit tight.

Good snap! Nice and clear, clarity is good and you have framed it well with the surrounding rocks. Did you snap this from any other angles? Because i always think its always so easy to stand in front of a monument like this and take a picture as i have done myself many times! But as good as it is i would challange you to try and look at things from a different viewpoint, such as standing underneath the faces and taking a photograph directly upwards or diagonally across the profile of the face. It is a great picture though!

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom i trust". Psalm 91: 1 and 2
