In Cizov, near the Czech-Austrian border, they have preserved a small part of the iron curtain. The several kilometres between the fence and the actual border was a highly militarized no-man's land.
When I grew up, our image of Europe more or less ended there. Although for western citizens it was possible to visit, it was seldom done because of the bureaucratic hassels. Now you can just cross a bridge or walk around a sign on a field, and you have crossed the border - from both sides.

All comments and critiques are very much welcome!

They should keep more as a reminder. I remember crossing the curtain on many occasions and it was like crossing into an alien and frightening place where the rules of life were very different. My wife escaped to the west so I know. Now, as far as the picture goes, two comments, I think you are too close to the wire as you lose the perspective of it disappearing. Also, maybe B&W would give it an edge? Otherwise a good picture.

I think I agree with Chris that this could convey a little more meaning if it were in B&W, but the color still works. I also think I really like how you positioned yourself with the fence...it's almost as if the viewer is "underneath" the barbed wire. I wouldn't want to lose that aspect in a shot like this. Nice job!!
