The beach is the main highway in Zanzibar. Each morning fishermen pass by on the way to their boats.

Beautiful photo. I love the subject and composition. However I probably would've cropped a little of the sand in the lower half, for the simple reason that it would give a better dynamic to the capture (because the man on his bicycle would be off center). I love the sepia look of the photo, the sky especially. The effect could even be enhanced by adding a bit more contrast or making the overall capture a bit darker. But that's just the way I would do things, it doesn't mean that it's THE way :p
Thanks for sharing!

Wow what an excellent shot. Personally I adore the muted colours and wouldn't do anything to change them. You've used the 'rule of thirds' to great effect both in the proportions of sea, land and sky and in placing the elements in the composition. What makes it really stand out to me is the right to left motion though - this one goes to my favourites.

Thanks to all my friends for the wonderful images I get to look at and learn from on Caedes every day. I always have something to say about them, but don't always have the time to record it. Please forgive me if I can't comment on all of your uploads.

He is traveling to where his boat is moored up in Bwejuu village. From there he can gain access to the pass in the reef where the tides rush in and out, which is where most of the bigger fish can be caught. It can get very dangerous in rough seas and some have died whilst trying to get beyond the reef. Boats can be flipped up by the waves and crashed upon the coral. The boats are very unstable and take a skilled hand to guide them. Baracuda, jack fish, they also catch marlin outside of the reef. Perhaps he will stay inside the reef and fish for squid. He'll sit in his boat all day until the sun goes down, without any shade, and perhaps catch enough to make about the equivalent of 8 dollars.
