i found a way to get my solid bg. using the q mask. this isn't the greatest pic i have seen but it is my first attempt.

I'm kind of liking the chalk treatment better... if you can get the bird in sharp with it, that is. Still, this solid blue background brings out the bird very nicely.

I kind of thought "Huh?" when I first saw this, but after looking at it a while, it is different. Very interesting to look at, makes me have to stop and think about it for some reason. Well done.
