This was taken at our tropical Butterfly House 10/08/06.I was very fortunate in that it allowed me to get rather close to it ( very rare) & shoot this image. It was definitely taking a long rest. I have searched and been unable to come up with the type of butterfly this is. All comments and critiques are welcomed here. Enjoy ;=)

Great capture of a beautiful specimen. Well done. I find it very hard to shoot butterflies. They hardly ever sit still for me. ^_^

She flew straight into my faves while I was reading all the wonderful comments above. How nice to have a place to go and view butterflies, say nothing of taking shots of them. But I'm glad you did. There must be some sort of butterfly identification site or book around somewhere, and I'm surprised the Butterfly House didn't have a sign up or some information on their specimens..definitely a opening for you to give them a suggestion ...wonderful shot..so very clear and well composed :)PJ

Hi Mimi, my oh my, this little butterfly is the star of the show, and what a show it is! He is sharing with us the most detailed of his kind! The clarity here is simply amazing, and the many and varied textures present are so distinct, so appealing! They add so much interest to the image and provide this little guy with a stunning background! I think he knew, that by resting and being patient, you would make him shine, and you did!! Very nice Mimi, Sincerely, Marilyn
