The Miramare Castle is located in Trieste, Italy at the most northern part of the Adriatic Sea. It's a charming castle built in 1866 for Archduke Maximillian of Hasburg, who later went on to become the emperor of Mexico.
Awesome view Doug with perfect clarity and composition. I love the architecture of this old castle and you've captured it perfectly here with a great eye. Outstanding post and so glad you share it and the history. Thanks so much.
Can't always give individual thanks but I am so appreciative of everyone's comments and input. I truly enjoy seeing all of your posts and am always happy to see you at My Gallery. Thanks, Anita
What an incredible castle, Doug! It's got a real charm about it! Interesting lighting that causes very little separation between sea and sky. I like this - thanks for the Italian tour and the history behind this castle. - Patty
What a massive building. I like seeing the varied colors in the stones used. This is true of the stones in the wall as well. It is astonishing how they can build such mammouth things. I like your perspective too. I also like the way the greenery decends down the wall.
Wow that castle is gorgeous. Its that pure white coloring and how its sitting on green rock wall.... The surrounding weather is perfect for it too, its so calming and clean looking. Very nice. I love castles, thanks for sharing!
That’s a beaut shot. The composition is great but it’s the way the sea and sky blend together so that there are no distractions that makes it special for me.
What a romantic and beautiful place!! That is the one thing about the old buildings in EUrope....there is nothing like it here in America. I was born in Germay near the Black Sea...and I came to the USA when I was ten yrs old...so I remember very well the beauty of the architecture. Ive never been to ITaly, but I was in France and EnglaNd and Holland...and I'll always treasure those times..Thank you for sharing such beauty with all of us. I am very much enjoying your photography... verena
