Hi Pierre. Thanks for the advice! Could you explain how you would adjust these so that I can give it a shot? By the way... I use a laptop, and I've noticed that an LCD often makes a difference in terms of contrast and color quality. I have not seen this photo on a CRT monitor, so I'd be curious to know if there's much difference.

Personaly, when I look on TFT screens, I never retrieve the tone and the colours variations
of my photos. Then, I bought a CRT iiyama 17" - Look here for more info.
It's the best monitor I ever seen :-)
About brightness/contrast: you can improve it with any good photo's software, like Photoshop, PaintShopPro, ...
