In many places around the world, grasshoppers are eaten as a good source of protein. In Mexico for example chapulines are used as a snack or filling. It is found on skewers in Chinese food markets, like the Donghuamen Night Market Raw grasshoppers should be eaten with caution, as they can contain tapeworms. Order now Supplies are running low Call: 1-Yum-Hoppers Master Po calls his young student "Grasshopper" in reference to their first meeting in which young Caine said that to be blind must be the worst affliction. Master Po drew attention to a grasshopper at his feet which the blind master could hear but to which Caine had been oblivious, showing the pupil how much he still had to learn. Panasonic DMC FZ7

I thought they were used as hops in some beers. They make good fish bait as well. Nice capture. I imagine there is a record bass that would enjoy him. Good shot Ed.

I have never eaten any insects on purpose. They are not on my list of fine cuisines. The Whopper is, though. LOL. This is an excellent close up of the grasshopper Ed. I like the way the sunlight is coming through the leaf. Good work.

Oh my! I see what you mean! There must be lots of protein there! lol What a giant he appears to be. Helen Keller, when asked if she'd rather be blind or deaf, said she would choose to be blind. I guess you can tell more about people and the world from the sounds in it. Great macro shot!

"Does not the pebble, entering the water, begin fresh journeys, Grasshopper?" Niiice close-up.

I actually ate a fried grasshopper when I was about six... someone dared me... I remember it was crunchy and the taste wasn't bad at all, although it was the first and last grasshopper I ever ate...
