A Gopher Tortoise I had to stop and remove from the middle of the road, on the way home from the River. The Florida gopher tortoise is considered a threatened species.

Good posting of him and you get a pat on the back for getting him off the road. We see snapper turtles around here in the road and people will either remove them from the road or take them home and use them for a meal. I like the first choice better.

I'm sure glad I'm not looking at a picture of a squashed tortoise. LOL. Well done Ed. This is really nice.

Give yourself a big THANK YOU and pat on the back Ed. He's beautiful and big. I love turtles, have to agree with E J because he looks old, they live a long time. You did a fabulous good deed and I'm sure he's happy with you also.

Suppose he hadn't any idea of being at the dangerous road Ed. After rescueing him from an almost certain dead, hope you spoke some serious words to him, lol.
Wonderful capture of this old boy.

If it wouldn't for you and the discovery channel, I would have no idea things like this existed. Marlin Perkins has nothing on you. Wonderful post and thanks for the info. I always love your nature images.

He's just wonderful, Ed. You captured him oh so nicely too. I would love to touch him. I have a fondness for turtles and tortoises and I have had to remove some from the roadway too. Is he a very big fellow?

Nice detail in your capture of this little guy. How lucky he was that you found him and helped him out of the road. I had him in voting and had to check him out. Great work.
