While hiking through the woods i came upon a small opening that this doe was running across. The only reason i was able to get this shot was she stopped looked behind her then looked at me than run into the brush. -Panasonic DMC FZ18-

They are so hard to get good shots of and it looks like she feels safe by having herself partially hid behind the bushes. I have scared up a few but not fast enough to get a shot!

Very nicely captured Ed. I know how deer can be so quick, but sometimes their curiosity gets the best of them too & they have to see who's behind them. I like the lighting too.

The deer is crystal clear, except for the head. I can't seem to get me old eyes to focus in on it. LOL. Very nice shot, Ed.

Wonderful find, even if she's partially camouflaged. Wonder if she thinks she is hidden? Nice park.

Very nice and clear natural capture.it's a shame her head is hiding....but that's what I like about it...all natural.

Ed, I like to agree with Sandi. It's very hard to make a capture of deer. I've succeeded in the past to capture some flocks and realize now that I was very lucky. The sound of the shutter of my camera was sufficient for them to disappear within a split second, so I understand your narrative very well. Given those difficult conditions, it's still a wonderful shot! Keep trying my friend, lol!

Generally they will always turn around before disappearing into the brush, thicket or whatever else will hide them. Whistle the next time and they will stop, but be ready to take the shot. That generally is their undoing. Good post Huck.

Deer are such wary, elusive creatures... the fact that she's partially hidden by the foliage bears this out...

I think you have done really well here, if it had been me I wouldn't had a hope in getting any where near it. LOL. Lyn.
