One of the many Gopher Tortoises that were on Egmont key. I spotted this one near the lighthouse. The island seemed to be full of them, They were even up and down the beach.

One thing about taking a picture of a tortoise, is that you don't have to use a high shutter speed to keep the picture sharp. LOL. Very nice close up, Ed. That sure is an evil look he is giving you.

Marvelous close up shot Ed of this tortoise. They are so cool to watch if you have time, lol. To me I think that is a male, females eyes are normally redish/brown.

I had a gopher turtle once but I had to fire him. It was taking him too long to bring anything to me. Great post Huck.

Are they safe from all those alligators? Nice clear shot Ed - The details are quite sharp.

Fantastic detail on this tortoise ... looks like he / she was giving you the 'eye' too. Very well done Ed.

Ed, can't help it, but I'm still smiling about Jimbob's comment about the shutter speed. Doesn't mean however that I wasn't watching your image seriously. Oh, no it's on the contrary.
Like therefore to say too that's a very good detailed turtle shot to me my friend.
Regards, Cornelius.

Very nice shot of this cute turtle, and I guess he wasn't afraid of you, because we can still see his head.
