This is part of the Fort on Egmont Key. I took this shot while standing in the Gulf of Mexico. There are 3 sections of the Fort on land and 2 underwater. The hurricanes and tropical storms haven't been kind to the old fort over the years.

Good Morning Ed, A very nice image, it is too bad about some of it being lost to the sea. You did a good job on the presentation. Lots of history behind this one. =^..^=sandi

Fabulous day to you Ed. Sure hope you weren't under water tring to capture the ones that are under, lol. Gorgeous capture showing such depth, textures, clarity and fabulous colours.

It's too bad that mother nature hasn't been kinder to keep history alive.

This is a beautiful shot especially because of the palm trees against that great looking sky!

I hope you took off your photography shoes before getting in the gulf. LOL. Nice shot of the fort...or what we see of it, that is. It's actually a great shot of the area near the fort. I love those palms. As you know, we don't have any here in Ohio, except in controlled environment areas of a Botanical Gardens or Zoo. I have an artificial palm tree in my yard though, right next to the plastic pink flamingos. LOL.

I can imagine it was quite a fort back in the days when it was very active. A grand capture full of textures & the sky sets it off suberbly. Well done.

I like your perspective from the gulf. Hard to imagine how time can weather and change the scene so completely. Thank you for sharing this old historical site.

It looks like a wild and forlorn place... Maybe the old fort has its share of ghosts and hauntings.
