Well! I thought i'd give it another try yesterday. This time i parked almost 100 yards away. It looks like these guys just don't want to be friendly. These birds couldn't have picked a better spot for a nest, They can see if anything's headed there way for over a mile away in all directions. That's why i can't sneak up on them. Surrounded by open fields with hiway US41 running along side.

Their eyes are almost bulging with rage Ed! LOL! A great closeup of these two~they are so vigilant. What an impressive nest~like a fort. Nice shot,but I don't think they like you! :)Ami

These Ospreys have such large nests Ed, they still you get very close remember they have incredible eyesight, & are naturally defensive.
Perhaps you have more luck getting closer if you swung some smelly kippers in the air attached to a long length of rope ! ;o)

Excellent details and colors. Thank you for sharing them. Confirms the nest I've been watching are indeed Ospreys. It is even harder to get to, surrounded by marshes. I agree with Ami, does seem a sort of fort.

They don't EVEN look friendly. They are planning an attack, Ed, so you better be careful. Don't let any white stuff get on the camera, either. LOL. Nice shot of those vicious looking birds.

I think you need to do a para-sail thing to get a better view Huck. Maybe they would think you were a long lost cousin. I do really like the way they are peering over the fort to check on you. Good post.

RCMP MUSICAL RIDE was FABULOUS and took lots of pictures
Wonderfully close, Ed. Can't blame them for being on guard and protective. I wonder what they would do if you approached them at a closer distance. You got great detail at 100 yards. They have different color eyes I noticed.
