A highly polished aluminum bodied 1966 427 shelby ford cobra MkIII. Powered by a "side oiler" Ford 427 engine (7.0 L) rated at 425 bhp which provided a top speed of 163 mph (262 km/h) in the standard model and 485 bhp with a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h) in the competition model. I've driven one of these babies many years ago and think it has to much motor in that lightweight body. A very uncontrollable vehicle if you got a lead foot.

A 7.0L engine on an aluminium bodied car! A good way to fly! Beautiful looks, though and well photographed, Ed.

Whoa Nelly! I have never seen anything like that. What a bod. (I don't usually say that except about women. LOL.) Fantastic shot of that gorgeous vehicle.

It would look like a bright glare shooting by you at top speed Huck Maybe even a falling star. Good info and capture.

Had the pleasure of going for a ride in a competition model way back then. Local gentleman raced one, and it was my lucky day when he asked me to go for a ride after a fresh tune up. Rural Kansas highway, no traffic, and not a Sheriff's car in the county that could even think about keeping up. Yeah, it was a fun day, and 160+ was no problem for that 427.
Thanks for the memory jog, and I like that aluminum model. They are being reproduced in aluminum now in an Eastern European country (can't remember at the moment which one) by an American owned company, so they are once again on the market, all you need is a large checkbook, LOL!

But I would love to see and touch it..hehe I'd be afraid to cause many an accident with all that metal blazing!! What a grand car tho..ahhhhhhhhhhh....thank you for show it off to us. Verena
