Thought ya might like a visual......the Legend of Hungry Mother has it that when the Native Americans destroyed several settlements on the New River south of the park, Molly Marley and her small child were among the survivors taken to the raiders base north of the park. They eventually escaped, wandering through the wilderness eating berries. Molly finally collapsed, and her child wandered down a creek until the child found help. The only words the child could utter were "Hungry Mother." The search party arrived at the foot of the mountain where Molly collapsed to find the child's mother dead. Today that mountain is Mollys Knob, and the stream is Hungry Mother Creek. Wikipedia

What a beautiful shot Rita - I see Molly's Knob there between the two hills. The sky is lovely as is the water - a very nice setting for a fine photo. (It is nice that she is remembered with Hungry Mother and Molly's Knob.)

An unknown legend to me Rita, but told and explained clearly by you. Your excellent accompanying image is a real bonus to me.

Again a Caedes friend have shown me that one is never too old to improve my education. Thanks for that my friend.

That legend would make a good TV show or movie. Maybe it has already been used. Your picture is gorgeous. I love the view of the mountains and Molly's Knob through the tree branches. The sky is beautiful as well. That water is very refreshing looking. Excellent post, Rita.

And the story continues from the park to Molly's Knob and Hungry Mother Creek. I visualize how the search party was so moved to name the landmarks in honor of mother and child. A lovely job of editing and composition Rita. Nice framing of branches.

The tree branches and leaves form a nice framing Rita for the view through to the knob - and a very interesting narrative.
