The red and black faced vultures have roosted in my trees for several years. I have counted more than 100 in one evening. Most of them have headed North and will return in the Fall once again. I watched and waited and watched and waited for over an hour to catch one crossing the full moon! It was worth my wait! Hope you enjoy.........ps. this is a red faced vulture or better known as a turkey vulture)

Your patience and persistence afforded you this super shot, Rita. I hope you were sitting on a back deck with a glass of wine to pass the time. Well done.

It was well worth waiting as this beautiful photo shows. The vignetting enhances the view.

Excellent shot Rita - perfectly timed - although vultures are not the prettiest birds, I still find them fascinating in that they are nature's garbage collectors and fit into the food chain very nicely.

Tis a great capture, but they are not the best looking bird, I'll say that. The shot makes a nice desktop screen. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent work with this photo, Rita. A nicely captured silhouetted capture of the vulture against the moon and sky. Sadly the only vultures around here are of the two-legged variety.

Wowser, it truly is a shot worth waiting for and it's perfection timed. Really like the full moon & the small clouds going across creating a moody shot. Brilliant posting & right into my favs
