I agree, it's a wonderful image and thoughtful shot. However, the white balance seems off to me...kinda hazy. Did you have a UV filter on, that may help some to bring out somemore tones. But, then again who worries about stuff like that when you're hangin' out a train!!! :)
Marc,
There is nothing quite like a photo of a unique train in a unique setting. Upon closer inspection of your image though, its quality somewhat diminishes. Having tried to take some good photos of the above myself, I know how difficult it can be. Your image seems to be very grainy and somewhat smudged. I think that it is in focus (quite close to the camera if i am not mistaken, but try and use really large f-stop values to get the whole train in focus, and perhaps a lower iso if possible (that may remove the grainy...stuff). The other members have given you some useful suggestions as well. My congratulations though on your compositions, the angle, your positioning of the train, and everything seems to be level; this all been quite a challenge on a lot of train rides.
Look forward to see more risky images!
It seems to me that what wears us down the most in life aren't the chances we take, but the chances we dont take, the dreams we put aside, the adventures we push away, the questions that are never answered
