aloe vera is a lily? - they are hideous plants but do marvellous things. this is an excellent shot and gives the plant an almost animal like feel. nice colours and focusing.
gorgeous shot absolutely brilliant i love the contrast of the greens with the purples behind it!
i remember last summer we were visiting my grandma and grandad in Hawaii and i got horribly burnt on my back so my grandma takes me out into her garden with a huge knife (i was a bit worried at first) and she cuts off a huge aloe vera leaf, splits it down the centre and smears all the ... juice (cant think of what else to call it) all over my back
great shot 10/10
Thank you so much for the nice words and comments, Pamella, Phil and Sophie.
Yup Phil, they call it lily of the desert. It is indeed a marvellous plant. The centre of the leaf is the fillet which is the water storage area of the plant .It contains 99.5% water and 0.5% solids. It has polysaccharides which believed to moisturize and healing the skin from sunburns, minor cuts, rashes and skin irritations. Sophie, send my warmest regards to your grandma, ok. ;)
Great shot, neez. The lighting works really well, and draws attention to those spines. The BG colour also adds depth and interest to the shot. Very nice :-)
