Lu 17:24 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.

I was asked to give a comment re this shot. Being an amateur myself, I'll give you the viewpoint of a lay man below.
The subject is beautiful: these birds do stand tall! The clarity is quite good, as mentioned by others as well. The light is quite adequate with no disturbing shadows or over-exposures. The framing is pretty good. The colours could perhaps be improved.
The one problem I see with this shot -and I don't know if you could somehow avoid it- is the background against which the bird's body and especially the head and beak fall. The wooden railing/fence and the tree trunks all have grayish colours and tones. This doesn't make a good contrast with the contour of the bird. Could you have shot the bird with, say, a green or blue background?
Overall, I think it's a lovely shot though. I'd give it two green lights and one amber.
This is very good, you can't always pick your backgrounds. I am going to focus my attention on Great Blue Herons and Egrets instead of the small birds I always post. Perfect title...
Oh, great capture of this bright eyed Heron. I like the lines of the walkways, and the Palms in the background. Most of all I like this tall lanky bird. A terrific image Sean!
Happy Easter !
