A trip to Tulelake is always an education. There is so much history for such a little town. This is Camp Tulelake which was a Japanese-American internment camp in 1943 and from 1944-1946 was a German POW camp. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 and no access is allowed which is why this pic is from a distance. All my shots were difficult due to the time of the day and my limited access but it was so interesting, I just couldn't stop snapping shots.

This is a great piece of American History you have reminded us about. Too bad you weren't allowed inside which seem strange. Glad you shared this with us. Very nice post.

Welcome to Caedes. This is a part of our history and I too think it is strange that people are not, at least, taken in as tours. My goodness, we can still walk into the White House, under supervision, why not this place? You have a thought provoking picture and I am looking forward to seeing more of your shots as time goes on.

A strange and rather distubing part of history that you've captured. If we don't look we can never see. Excellent capture!

Putting your pictures in my favorites is the highest honor I can give you. If I do not get to your pictures as soon as you post them, I apologize. I try. Also if I do not respond for awhile it doesn't mean I'm ignoring you, it just means I'm really tied up with life. Bene lava!!

One of my professors was interned there during the war. A long distance shot might better display the desolate, windblown dust pan that was home to so many innocent Americans. There were, however, some real spys interred there but that in no way excuses what was done to those people.

Thanks for the comments! Some of you wondered why no access is allowed. I assume no access is allowed because the buildings are old and very fragile. I believe access to them could cause damage.

Don't ever let someone make you feel as if you shouldn't have something that you deserve.
