This guy lives wild in Richmond Park in West London along with about 400 others. Actually he's not the monarch - the dominant stags are pretty scary (and noisy) creatures. But this one was happy to pose for me. Cute isn't he?

And me with deer season just around the corner. Do you get in trouble for shooting them in Parks? JK I guess if you shoot them with a camera you don't, and this is a nice shot. Will go in my animal folder. Looks like Owd Bob's monarch and here I thought Monarch's were butterflies. Very good post Nigel. Like the care less attitude of ones in back.

You took your photo at the very right moment! Was it in a zoo? I like the stag look, like he/it was thinking "and what are you looking at, matey?". Thanks for sharing.

Nigel,

Awsome photograph, love the colour. Thanks for sharing and stuff. Lucky for him, that he lives there. Here he would be on somebodies wall.

Nine points on that deer and if you had moved on the doe he may have introduced you to each one of them! As said above, the clarity on the subject is quite good. I like the way you made the background unfocused to concentrate our eyes on the foreground.

Am afraid of them big animals with heads full of horns !
LOL
Seriously I prefer animals with claws and teeth but nevertheless this is a stunning pic.
*now it looks like my dog made this comment - he hates horses-like animals and makes friends with some predators like himself*

Hi Nigel

Excellent focus and a great capture of this stag here. How far away were you from him when you took this? I love the simple border too, a superb post all in all.

Paul :)

EDIT upon viewing full screen the focusing becomes more apparent. I am not a great lover of animal pics but this gets 10/10 Nigel!
