This is the Heritage Park monument at the mouth of Emigration Canyon due east of Salt Lake City. It commemorates the arrival of Mormon pioneers to the Salt Lake Valley in the mid 1800's. Here is a view of the main monument, with the vast valley just beyond.

I'd like to see more of the valley and the monument (just a little closer), but the way the sky brings you down to the monument is really nice. I like it!

The sky is very nice, but it makes the monument a little too dark. I would have liked to see the details in the monument.
