Given your description and knowing from my own experience I have to admit that this shot is really great. It was surely difficult to take but you managed it to show us this beautifully designed window with all it's ornaments. This makes a nice desktop for people who like to have a religious motif on their screen, good work from you, thumbs up !!!

This did turn out well for you. I've taken a number of them myself...but none tured out well enough to post.

The fact that it was one of those rare sunny days may have contributed to the contrast and details. I remember lots of folks were outdoors that day having picnic lunch while I was in the inner chapel trying to get a good pic. I doubt the window is an original piece given the Cathedral's long history (Middle Ages??), but it is still a spectacular piece of artwork.

I think that this shot turned out fantastic. Good coloring displayed from the window art and the overall image works well. Nice capture and good work from you :)
