This is two photos that I put together. The door was to a very old house the was being restored, I took this shot in B&W over 20 years ago. The background is beach sand that I tried to make it look like outer space, with a lot of stars. Maybe it's to weird? Like always comments are welcomed.

I like! The sand, I think, makes a perfectly acceptable Milky Way and being a Dr Who fan since episode one in 1963 I like the idea of "The Door In Space".

I like the idea and improvised use of the door and sand. What if the door were cropped closer without the shingles?

I think your "manufactured sand-to-sky" is very successful... but maybe a normal wooden door (or steel door) half-opened would be as effective as the very old door.
