This was taken last night just before sunset, There must have been bad Rip tide, I saw that the life boat was used earlier that day. It must seem to some to be the perfect job, to get sun all day and to get to see the beautiful girls or guys, but I know these lifeguards here, save life's everyday. This guy didn't sit down the three hours we were at the beach. There is also four other lifeguards that are closer to the water, on smaller chairs. This one has two seats one behind the other, why? the top one is use by another lifeguard to watch for sharks. (He had just got down to get something when I took this shot.)

In Australia we call them surf lifesavers and they are mostly unpaid volunteers. This fellow looks like he is really earning his keep.

Such a good shot and narrative Laura. Another occupation to add to the unsung hero list. I bet there are many who would tell of their brave deeds. Thanks for the reminder.

He looks more as if he enjoys the view, but I hope we can trust him. Anyway, the photo is great.

A fine image and narrative, Laura. It's nice to see a Lifeguard doing his job. 3 young children drowned in pools here in the past 2 weeks. Lifeguards were on duty and one pool even had 3 on duty. Good post

A nice image. Being in the sun might be nice, but day after day of it is very hard I know from experience lifeguarding is a very hard job. You have a very nice shot here though.

I don't want to be anywhere near sharks, lifeguard or no. Nice shot, Laura.

Lifeguards have an extremely hard job. It is boring most of the time, yet they must maintain high alert at all times...and be ready to move quickly. Good summer pic!
