You can't expect people to look eye to eye with you if you are looking down on them.

I like the contrast between the dark trees and light sky. The slightly diagonal line of both treeline and river works well - it draws the viewer into the photo and gives more depth to the image. The tree in the foreground gives even more depth and serves to contrast once more against the main patch of clear sky. Superb composition.
