Wow, how very lush this scene looks and also very colourful too. I love the different textures of the trees and the landscape in general with the red flowered tree taking centre stage. Well done!

You are correct OrchidLadyLinda. A poinciana tree it is. I have one in my front yard as well that I planted about 6 or 7 years ago. They grow quite large and provide great shade in the warmer months but lose all of their fine leaves in the cooler months. The only down side to them is their massive seed pods that they drop after flowering. My one is only about 7-8 feet tall at the moment but should be taller except for the fact that it got attacked by a borer when it was only a year in the ground and we thought that we were going to lose it. I had to remove about half of its height to get rid of the borer damaged growth. My one still hasn't flowered as it normally takes a few years before they do. The trunks can grow quite large as well with massive roots so if anyone intends to plant one then don't plant them anywhere close to your house as they can damage your house by lifting the slab.
