Roman treasures of the Algarve. Important historical legacy that bear testimony to the presence of the Romans in the Algarve, the Ruins of Milreu, situated only a few kilometres from Faro, close to Estói, represent genuine trip into the past that it is well worth taking some time to discover and explore. The imposing treasures of the Ruins of Milreu, now classified as a national monument, reveal what remains of the once luxurious rural villa, which in the 6th century AD abandoned its pagan status and began to be placed at the service of the Christian church. The site was abandoned in the 10th century.

If only walls could speak think of the stories they would tell. I always find old ruins whether they be here or The Pont du Gard aqueduct or Hadrian's Wall in Owd Bob's neck of the woods absolutely fascinating. This is a great picture that showed me something about the Algarve that I was unaware of.

Now that is old! Those Romans built things to last and so they did and over many parts of the world. They seem to like those rounded constructions at certain points in their history. I have seen them else where as well. I sure would love to explore this ancient site. Great shot of it, Antonio and thanks for bringing it to our attention.
