Forgetting comes hard for many Antonio. It takes generation upon generation. Sometimes it is never gone and shouldn't be. It is how we keep it from repeating itself. Excellent photo.
Antonio - In 1968, I stood near the wall on the West Berlin side, while a guard described how he had escaped from the east some years earlier, and how life was for his mother who remained there. When I get to those 35mm slides in my digitizing process, I'll post some of the wall and no-mans land, or the garden wall that was incorporated into the wall with shards of glass cemented to the top. The day in East Berlin, and the one spent at Dachau were two that are etched in my memory. You are correct - these cannot be forgotten. In you photo, the gray sky is very appropriate. A nice posting. Wow, what a reminder to me. I was very young when I was living in Berlin for a year with my Mom and Grandparents. But this photo is still a memory no one will forget. My Mom used to go up to the wall and just see her dear friend. Could not talk to her. Just see her. Altho she was allowed to write. Years later her friend was freed and moved to America. A well taken photo here. Thank you. Verena
I was in Germany before the wall came down and I allways dreamed of what it would be like for Germany if the wall came down. I watched on tv as it came down a year or so later and wept tears of joy for these people. Great shot and I hope we never forget.
I agree we must never forget. So many lives ripped apart by the simple act of putting up a wall. May we remember in our own lives as we deal with others to not put up fences of hurt and judgment. A very good photo and a wonderful reminder Antonio.
