The foundation of the monastery was made in the Visigothic period. According to an entry in the monastery cloister, that building was destroyed in 1000 by the Arab leader Almançor and was rebuilt in 1018 under the patronage of Ganfried or Ganfei, a French knight who became a saint, deriving its name the name of the village and the monastery

Antonio - Where does the eye start to look - the incredible deep blue sky with its dramatic fair-weather clouds, the amazing stonework of the old monastery, the bed of orange flowers, the large old tree, or the cobblestone plaza? Simply beautiful. Thad
