This castle was founded following the order of King D. Dinis. The works lasted only 4 years and ended in 1298. Granite, marble and schist were used in its construction. It has an oval plan, a top reinforced by three towers and a keep, situated westwards from the wall. It is located in the centre of Alandroal village, Alentejo, surrounded by well-kept houses.

I think you positioned yourself in just the right place to take this shot showing the inner doorways and all the brick like construction. I like the shadows you captured too.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . .
