Saint Hubert Chapel (Amboise). In 1516 King Francis I invited Leonardo da Vinci to live in Amboise, which was the seat of the court of France. Leonardo spent the last years of his life in the Clos (or Cloux), a fortification changed into a palace, now called Le Clos Lucé. Leonardo died in 1519 and, according to his last Will, was buried in the cloister of the church of Saint Florentin in the Chateau of Amboise. His mortal remains then disappeared due to the tombs violations during the Wars of Religion of XVI century, when Saint Florentin fell into ruin. After 300 years the site was escavated and an anonymous skeleton was found near an inscripton that, for a chance, contained some of the letters 'L E O N A R D O'. The bones were moved into this chapel and, even if it is far from sure that it was actually Leonardo's body, tourists from all over the world are told that it hosts the grave of Leonardo da Vinci.

A wonderful step back into the past Antonio. The photo is so well composed. The tree looks like it is shaking its fist for being pruned so much. Excellent post and thanks.
